Chapter Thirteen

"Hey Meli? Can I still have the tour? Also, I'm wondering if you have any comfortable clothing you could let me borrow? If I will sleep here tonight, I'd like to wear something which isn't as confining."

"Oh. The tour, okay. I forgot about the tour when we talked about me. Yes, I'm sure I can find you something to wear which is much more comfortable than your jeans and shirt."

"Good. Besides, I want to change into those comfortable clothes if we will watch TV or a movie, so I can relax."

Although she didn't want to, Melody released the hold she had on Sarah's hand before she stood from the sofa. Melody's smile returned though once Sarah stood, having taken Melody's hand in hers. Sarah knew Melody needed the feel of their hands locked together. As far as Sarah was concerned, it didn't hurt her to give Melody what the blond needed, so holding onto Melody's hand the way the blond needed was not something Sarah would withhold from Melody.

Since the house belonged to Melody, she let the blond be the tour guide and take the lead. Besides, letting her be guided to the rooms Melody wanted to show off allowed Sarah to take in how the rooms were decorated. Letting her be taken from one room to another let Sarah reach out to run her free hand over Melody's back, or the blond's side when Sarah stood next to Melody, or touch the woman in other way while Melody showed off her house.

The tour started with the kitchen since they've already spent so much time in the room where Melody knocked out the wall, turning the dining and living room into the one large room. However, they didn't spend much time in the kitchen because if you've seen one kitchen you've seen any others. The only thing different about Melody's kitchen was the plate-glass sliding door which led out to the large backyard.

Standing in the middle of the kitchen, Sarah looked out into the night and watched the snow continue to fall. Sometime while the two talked with each other on the sofa, the weather outside had grown worse and now the snow coming down was thick and restricted visibility. "I bet when the snow melts and everything blooms, your backyard is a riot of colors."

"My backyard is beautiful once everything blooms or begins to grow. There's a portion of the yard where I garden, growing fresh vegetables for myself."

"I miss having a garden. Mama and papa back in San Fran have one, but they grow everything on the rooftops of the buildings. The two of them work together with others who live in the neighborhood, making the whole area one big communal rooftop garden."

"Do they? I'd love if we had a communal garden in this neighborhood but... getting everyone to find the time or the desire won't happen." Melody turned away from where she looked out through the door while the two stood in the middle of the room, giving her attention to Sarah.
